My History

I have had the privilege to live all over the United States being from a military family. But the majority of my life has been spent on the East Coast. I went to undergrad and graduate school in Virginia as well as completed my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy in North Carolina. I look at my life as a house that is under construction and has been built on a foundation of love and support from others. I am grateful for my family, my friends, my two fur sons (Dragon and Martie), my community and connection to all beings. I enjoy almost anything that gets me outdoors and exploring new paths be it in my own backyard or abroad. I truly see everything as being connected and through support of one another we can find hope, healing and happiness.

My Approach

I provide psychotherapy for couples, families, individual adults and adolescents. I practice through client collaboration from a holistic and integrated care approach. I truly believe in a mind-body connection and utilize yoga philosophy from my training as a Registered Yoga Teacher and mindfulness training into my work. It is through mindfulness I find clients are able to connect with themselves and others in a more compassionate way that allows for empowerment and balance.

From a client-centered approach I value the strengths of the individual and help guide them to build upon those attributes to create change in their lives. My clinical experience includes CBT, ACT, Mindfulness for Couples, and I am also trained in EMDR. I work with clients who struggle with depression, anxiety, marital/family distress, infidelity, grief/loss, difficult life transitions and other issues. I am honored everyday by the strength it takes for one to enter therapy and do the hard work to make their life better.

I earned my graduate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy with a certificate in Medical Family Therapy from East Carolina University. I have worked in clinical and integrated health care settings and believe in a  holistic approach to treatment. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
