I grew up as an ARMY brat so I have constantly moved throughout my life and love to travel. I believe we live in a beautiful world and we need to experience the breathtaking world we live in. Often, we get bogged down by the negative things that we forget to see the things that are right in front of us. I love to investigate the wonders that are right before us! I enjoy getting out for day trips. And who doesn’t love a good road trip to see what there is to explore? I find enjoyment in the outdoors especially the beaches. I am constantly attending graduate level courses to deepen my knowledge and to become a better therapist. I have spent the last 15 plus years supporting military personnel and their families.
Each individual is on a different journey in life and the same should be true of the counseling process. I believe counseling is about hand picking what is best and most comfortable for the individual on their journey. This is why I believe in an eclectic approach to counseling enabling me to tailor counseling to the needs and comforts of YOU the client. We will work together to come up with the best plan for YOU.
I tend to use a combination of cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, dialectical behavioral, mindfulness, EMDR and Gottman method to make a treatment plan that will best meet YOUR needs.
We will begin our process together with a biopsychological assessment. From there, we will discover your strengths and weaknesses and establish a plan of treatment to bring about the changes YOU are desiring. I believe that overcoming our weaknesses can make us even better!
Often in life, we think we do not need help and we continue faking it and struggling inside to make it. The biggest strength you can have is to reach out for the support that is right in front of you and learn the strategies to win the war that you are battling. Mend your heart, mind, and soul and allow these circumstances to make you better then you were before. TO LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE.
I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After taking a short break, I pursued and earned my Masters Degree in Psychology from Fayetteville State University to pursue my dream of being a clinical counselor. Upon graduation, I entered into private practice and have been providing services to individuals, couples, families and groups since 2005. In addition to this work, I contracted to work as a Military and Family Life Counselor and then earned a Post Masters in Military Resilience from Liberty University.
